Premium Wood Pellets Vs Economy Ones Is The Question

By Marissa Velazquez

Many people want the look and feel of a fire place in their home. This provides a warmth that is not too hot or cold and has just the right moisture. Many of these same people want to be able to tell others they are being environmentally friendly in most things they do. This is why premium wood pellets and the stoves that use them are popular in many parts of the world.

Business owners also like the idea of this type of fuel for their boilers and heating and cooling plants associated with their commercial buildings. Because of the formulation and construction of these orbs, it is easy to transport, store and move about in whatever facility is under discussion. This fuel source comes in bags, boxes, crates and truck loads.

The primary way of noticing the difference between economy and the premium wood pellets is the color. These high quality orbs are composed of virgin softwood. These are collected from the processing of wood for other uses. These are compressed into the cylinders that are recognized as being the pellets. They are light in color and the economy ones are darker.

Pellets are lower on moisture than standard wood, so they burn hotter and with a more consistent heat. This also allows them to burn with almost no ash. This helps in the cleaning of the stove or boiler. This is very helpful for the large boilers in commercial buildings or the multiple fireplaces in large homes or apartment complexes.

The pieces that are considered economy types are created out of many different materials. Scrap wood, left over virgin material and even bark is mulched up and combined together. They are compressed and are evidenced by the darker color they have. They are also smaller than the premium ones and have a slightly higher moisture content. As such, they do not burn as hot and they will have a bit more ash to contend with.

Both types of pellet are used, in European countries, for bedding for their horses and many other stable animals. This helps to maintain a dry stall and prevents some diseases from being attracted to those beautiful mounts. Most of them will, of course, use the economy type because of costs, however, some of them like to use the higher quality as it has a better absorbency rate.

This fuel does transport fairly easily. Many of the the large commercial facilities appreciate the ability for this fuel, of either variety, to be blown into their hopper or storage container. Many of these larger concerns order this material every week and it simply saves time and money to have it delivered in this loose way. Private orders can be picked up or delivered to homes in bags from 25 pounds through some of the largest at 150 pounds per bag.

This type of fuel, whether premium wood pellets or the economy ones, will assist in making your home warm and your commercial plant to operate properly. The difference in the two will be costs and the consistency of heat or energy to perform other tasks. Most manufacturers of equipment will require the use of premium pellets, however, so it might be in your best interests to use it so your warranty is not in danger.
